Q:

We have just opened an ASC-Endoscopy Center and are having trouble finding reliable billing information. We are aware that Revenue codes need to be used, and that the fee must encompass all drugs and supplies and be billed on a UB92. Where and how do the Revenue Codes work?

A:

Many insurance carriers specify that the services provided by an ASC be submitted on a UB92 billing form. The UB92 billing form summarizes services by revenue code. For example, generic drugs are summarized under revenue code 251. Each area to be charged in the ASC setting is defined and assigned to specific revenue code.
