  • Accurate verification of all insurance benefits, and entry of new or updated insurance information for all patient accounts
  • Communicating with patients and payers to request payment and arrange payment plans
  • Collecting payments from patients or payers and accurately recording them in the system
  • Updating client accounts based on payment or contact information
  • Research and follow up on authorization denials

The individual in this role will develop and maintain relationships with attorneys and WC case workers, manage an assigned caseload of routine to moderately complex claims from investigation of claim through resolution, including decisions about liability/compensability, evaluating losses, and negotiating settlements. The role interacts with claimants/patients, policyholders, appraisers, attorneys, Workers Comp Board and other third parties participating in the claim’s management process. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Working to establish new relationships in the market to increase WC and PI case volume. Manage WC and PI cases throughout the continuum from initial appointment to patient’s release, working closely with physicians and case managers. Managing case appointments, follow-up, authorizations, communication with Physicians, Case Managers, Employers and Adjusters, attorneys and paralegals with PI cases, respectively. Obtaining authorization for treatment, Physical Therapy, Functional Capacity Evaluation, Second Opinion, surgery, and any other MD orders for WC patients. Coordinating Independent Medical Exam appointments with Physicians. Maintaining current relationships with Carriers, Employers, Adjustors. Communicating WC and PI patient information daily to MD for appointments (e.g., pre-cert status, availability of light duty, etc.) Required Experience and Skills: 2+ years’ demonstrated success in developing, managing, growing and monitoring WC and PI case volume through to completion. Ability to prioritize and keep projects moving in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently. Detailed orientation. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills. This role requires prior experience in worker’s compensation and personal injury claims, knowledge of ICD-10/CPT Codes and electronic medical record systems. CWCP certification a plus.
